Meru Health - A Digital Clinic for Treating Symptoms of Depression and Anxiety

 

Meru Health offers an 8-week mobile program for treating the symptoms of depression and anxiety through your smartphone. The purpose of the program is to teach skills that improve mental wellbeing.

The program is based on widely used therapy forms, which are proven to be effective, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and behaviour activation.

Cognitive Behavioural Threapy or CBT is based on the understanding, that thoughts, emotions and behaviour are all interconnected. If you change one of these, it affects the others. CBT will help you change your thought patterns and behaviour into a direction that will improve well being and life management.

Behaviour Activation is based on mind and body activating practices.

Mindfulness will help you to live more in the present and accept the current circumstances as they are. By taking a moment and pausing into emnbodied Mindfulness-practices you will learn to observe your thoughts and emotions more clearly as well as listening to the signals of your body. You will get to know yourself better.

In Mindfulness we turn towards life, and we learn to look at life and the full spectrum of life. As life, will never be just easy and pleasant. We all face difficulties and setbacks in our own journey. What we try to learn in mindfullness, is ways to face our own weaknesses, painful spots and life's setbacks in a kinder and more consturctive manner. Without having to turn your back, be afraid or be shameful of setbacks. The program will provide you the tools that you need for these skills.

The aim of these therapies is to learn to break free from old harmful thought processes and modes of operating, that might be the cause or further depression or anxiety. Thus aiming towards a fuller life with better psychic wellbeing, freedom of choise and liberty of mind.

PRACTICING

You will be working with the program individually by watching weekly themed videos and doing practices regularly. To get the full benefits of the program it would be best to reserve 20-30 minutes a day in 4 to 7 days a week. Throughout the program a Meru Health therapist will be supporting your practicing. He or she will be available every weekday through the chat within the application. After the program has ended you will still have access to the practices.

You will start your journey with the 8-week Meru Health -program. You will get the support of your personal Meru Health -therapist as well as an anonymous peer support group. The peer support group consists of approximately 10 other participants.
